  • College Fair Bus times change:  The bus times for the Sept. 26th trip to Marshall for the career and college fair has changed slightly.  We added a pick up in Heron Lake so Please note the change:  7:20 Okabena and 7:30 Heron Lake Elem.  We are on a strict time schedule and won’t be waiting any longer than the posted times.  Any questions, see Mrs. Koep

ATTENTION Sophomores and Juniors.  You will have the opportunity to attend the annual Southwest Minnesota College and Career Fair on Wednesday Sept. 26th.  There will be over 100 different colleges and careers showcased, with prizes, handouts, and lots of opportunities to explore careers from a wide range of areas.  This year we will be attending the Career Fair in Marshall rather than Worthington so it will be a full day event.  Students will need to be here BY 7:30am to catch the bus.  You should bring money and/or a sack lunch.  The bus will return to the school at approximately 3pm.  If you would like to attend the College and Career Fair you MUST BE SIGNED UP by the end of the day on SEPTEMBER 21.  No exceptions.  Sign up sheet is located in the office.  Any questions, see Mrs. Koep.

  • Our school nurse, Kathi Haberman, along with volunteers, will be conducting hearing and vision screenings for students in grades 7, 8, 10, and 11 at the Heron Lake - Okabena high school library on Thursday, September 27th.

Students who do not pass the initial screening will be re-screened on Tuesday, October 9th.  Should a possible problem be detected in your child's vision or hearing, you will be sent a letter requesting she/he see a physician.

If your child wears glasses or contact lenses, please make sure she/he has them along on the 27th of September and/or the 9th of October.

Should you have any questions concerning the upcoming screening, please contact the high school at 507-853-4507. You may also call and leave a message for the school nurse, Kathi Haberman, if you have concerns.
